Our Mr. Wrenn, the Romantic Adventures of a Gentle Man by Sinclair Lewis
This ebook is free on Amazon (see link). Full disclosure; I have not read this. However, I have read some of Lewis’ better-known works, and I can tell you his prose style is straightforward and engaging. His characters ring true for their time, flaws and all.

Here is your twofer: Lewis also wrote Free Air, a little-known novel about a cross-country road trip in the very early 20th Century. It’s also free on Amazon as a Kindle edition. I loved this book, as I loved Main Street and Arrowsmith. Other titles by Lewis are Main Street, Babbitt, Arrowsmith, and Elmer Gantry. (You may recognize these titles from your high school English class.) His books reflect his social stance and his politics, but I just like the stories. I’m easy that way.
