Educated by Tara Westover

An less, effortless, fascinating read. I was given the hardcover edition as a Christmas gift and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Read more on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35133922-educated?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=stfq45IHgp&rank=1

Life and Death in Shanghai by Nien Cheng

Nien Cheng is the pen name for author Yao Nien-Yuan. A senior executive for Shell, she was imprisoned in China in 1966 during their Cultural Revolution. This is her story, which is clear and compelling.

The book is available from several sources, mainly now as an e-book. I read it as a trade paperback shortly after it was published in 1987. A sample can be read here: https://www.harpercollins.com/9780007375615/life-and-death-in-shanghai/

For those in West Michigan,There are trade paper copies at the West Side branch of the Grand Rapids Public Library, Hope College Library, and Calvin College Library.
